It’s a
humbling thing to stand at the foot of a mountain. A man doesn’t know how
insignificant he is till he stares up at something that reaches halfway to
heaven. Yup, it’s a humbling thing.
Me and
Nameless were up in the mountains today. I didn’t plan on going any further
than the high ground above the pine forest, but we just kept on going. Up there
where the air is fresh and sweet, I gloried in the view across the Blogsville Valley and relaxed in nature’s quietude.
‘Hey
fella,’ I said when Nameless slumped beside me. ‘You’re supposed to be running
around and getting some exercise. Exercise is good for you, keep’s your mind
and body healthy.’
Well,
Nameless did as Nameless does; he closed his eyes and fell asleep. And that was
fine by me. I figured if Nameless was content, then I was too. Sometimes you
just have to sit back and let things be, so I did, with a cigarette.
Contentment’s
a wonderful thing. It comes from being comfortable with yourself and happy with
what you got. If ever you a problem you can walk away from, start walking, then
you won’t have a problem anymore. Ain’t always possible, I know, but don’t
worry. Think of life as a series of big peaks and little peaks and you’ll get
by a whole lot better, ‘cause even from the smallest peak, there’s always a big
peak in sight. Just remember that.
